Webber’s Hot Dogs

“When my father didn’t have my hand, he had my back.” – Linda Poindexter

Webber’s Hot Dogs in Sarasota looks like a place you would get a great meat stick.

From its circus tent shape to bright ketchup and mustard paint job you can see this place from a mile away. It’s got some picnic tables, a patio and a few old school metal signs.

This was one of those fun visits where I reached out and got an invite from the manager Tony, so I’m excited to get more than just a good hot dog.

Add to that the Buffalo connection, the marriage with Sahlen’s Hot Dogs and the family that picked up a son’s dream and carries it to this day and you’ve got yourself a story.

I met a husband working hard for a son who had a dream and ate a couple of the best hot dogs I’ve had the chance to sample on this adventure.

I was treated like an old family member from the second Tony looked up from the kitchen and smiled, “Michael?”

The menu was huge, and it was obvious they did a lot more than hot dogs.

Irwin Pastor, the owner was beaming with pride as he described his award-winning wings, the handmade burgers, famous onion rings and mouth-watering chicken sandwich.

Focus Michael- We’re here for hot dogs.

Webber's Hot Dogs

I know, but man it all sounded so good.

At this point, you know the drill – I let them steer me to the best selling and most ordered hot dogs.

They insisted on a plain one, “let the meat and the char do the talking” so I went with the foot long.

Three, count'em THREE!

I also added a carrot dog (vegetarian) and the “Buffalo” dog which is like a Chicago dog – the mustard, pickle and that spicy relish/hot sauce mix the Buffalo folks have mastered.

They were amazing, all of them, and I’m not exaggerating.

The food was top notch, but the people were even better.

Tony, Irwin, and the entire Webber’s family will be seeing #thefoodguy™ again soon.

Welcome to the BallNine family.

What about the food?

I’m glad you asked.

You’re going to have to watch….

Stay tuned and Stay Hungry.
